Chapter 1: Wherever You Are

"Some distances aren't measured in miles, but in all the words we never had the courage to say." One by one, the lights inside the auditorium began to dim.
The applause still echoed throughout the venue as Boom walked from one side of the stage to the other, waving goodbye to the fans who had filled every seat in Chiang Mai.
"Thank you so much for coming! I'll see you again soon!" he said with a warm smile, raising both hands. The cheers grew even louder. Some fans waved banners. Others held up their phones, trying to capture one last memory before he disappeared backstage. Boom gave a polite bow before stepping behind the curtain.
And then... Silence. The contrast was almost unsettling. Only moments ago, he had been surrounded by hundreds of voices. Now all he could hear was the hum of the air conditioner and the distant sounds of the staff taking down the stage.
He stood there for a moment. His eyes wandered across the empty rows of seats. He had always found it strange how quickly a place could change. One moment, it was full of life.
The next... Nothing but echoes remained.
"Boom." His manager's voice gently pulled him back to reality. "The car is ready." He slowly turned around. "I'm coming." She gave him the same patient smile she always did. They had worked together for years. Long enough for her to know when he needed someone to talk to... And when silence was exactly what he needed. The drive back to the hotel was unusually quiet. City lights blurred across the window like distant stars.
Boom rested his head against the glass. He loved traveling. He always had. Discovering new cities, tasting unfamiliar food, finding hidden little places no one talked about.
But lately... Every trip left him with the same feeling. He could arrive anywhere in the world... Yet nowhere truly felt like home.
Meanwhile...
Back in Bangkok... Camera flashes lit up the studio one after another. "Perfect! Just one more!"
Smart shifted his pose ever so slightly. The photographer smiled with satisfaction. "That's it."
The makeup artist stepped in to fix a loose strand of hair. The stylist adjusted the collar of his jacket. The crew chatted happily as the shoot came to an end. Smart thanked everyone with the same gentle smile he always wore.
He joked with the staff. Asked if everyone had already eaten. Made sure no one felt left out.
He had that rare ability to make people feel comfortable simply by being there. "That's a wrap for today," the photographer announced. "Thank you for your hard work."
Smart gave a small bow. "No... thank you." When he stepped outside, the sounds of Bangkok greeted him immediately. Motorbikes. Traffic. Neon lights. A city that never seemed to sleep.
He took a deep breath before getting into the waiting car. The door closed. And for the first time that day... His smile faded.
Back in Chiang Mai... Boom arrived at the hotel long after night had settled over the city. He placed his backpack on the bed and took off his cap. Several gift bags from fans were waiting on the desk. It had become a ritual. No matter how exhausted he was, he always took the time to open every single one. Letters. A handmade bracelet. A small plush toy. He smiled. Another bag. Photographs. Drawings. More letters. Until one simple postcard caught his attention. There was no signature. Only one carefully handwritten sentence. "I hope one day you find a place that feels like home, no matter where you are."
Boom stared at those words for a long moment. Something tightened inside his chest. He slowly closed his eyes. People often said that home was a place. He had never completely believed that.
Sometimes... Home was a person. He carefully slipped the postcard into the black notebook he had carried with him for years. A notebook no one knew existed. The place where he wrote every thought he could never say out loud. He opened to a blank page. Slowly, he wrote: "Is it possible to miss someone... even when time refuses to stand still?" He looked at the sentence for several seconds. Then quietly closed the notebook. He wasn't ready to write the rest.
Back in Bangkok... Smart arrived home just before midnight. He placed his keys on the table. Took off his shoes. Silence welcomed him, just like every other night. He switched on the small lamp beside the sofa. He wasn't tired. Grabbing a glass of water, he stepped out onto the balcony. From there, he could see part of the city stretching endlessly beneath him. Bangkok never truly slept. There was always another light glowing somewhere. Another car passing by. Another story unfolding. He pulled out his phone. Opened the Notes app. And typed a single sentence. "Some memories learn how to travel with you." He read it once. Then locked the screen. He never understood why he kept writing thoughts he would never let anyone read. Maybe... Some feelings were simply too big to explain. And too quiet to ignore. That same night...
Boom opened the window of his hotel room. At that exact moment, Smart stepped onto his balcony. Two different cities. Two completely different routines. The same sky. The same moon. Neither of them knew the other had looked up at exactly the same moment. Sometimes destiny doesn't bring people back together right away. Sometimes... It lets them walk separate paths. Only to remind them, when the time is finally right... That one person can make every place in the world feel like home.

End of Chapter One.
